XBB Dongle & XBB PowerUnit – smart control of auxiliary lights
XBB Dongle & XBB PowerUnit is a smart and wireless control system that makes it easy to install auxiliary lights, LED light bars and other vehicle lighting on modern vehicles. The system retrieves information from the vehicle via the diagnostic port (OBD2) and sends control signals wirelessly to the XBB PowerUnit.
This means you do not need to search for a high beam signal or interfere with the vehicle’s original wiring – a major advantage on modern vehicles with CAN-bus systems and advanced headlight technology.
How does it work?
XBB Dongle connects directly to the vehicle’s OBD2/diagnostic port and reads information made available by the vehicle through the diagnostic system. In the
XBB Configurator app, you select a so-called recipe adapted to the vehicle model and equipment.
When, for example, the high beam, reverse light or ignition is activated, the XBB Dongle detects this and sends the signal wirelessly via Bluetooth to the
XBB PowerUnit.
The XBB PowerUnit is usually installed in the engine bay and acts as the system’s power and control unit. Auxiliary lights, an LED light bar or other equipment are connected to it. In the app, you decide which signal should control each output.
Example: High beam is activated → XBB Dongle detects the signal → the signal is sent wirelessly to the XBB PowerUnit → the LED light bar turns on.
No separate control wire therefore needs to be routed between the passenger compartment and the engine bay.
